Holidays

Many of us indulge during the holidays, that's okay. Just indulge in your exercise routine also and you'll be fine!

Remember, it's about calories in being lower than calories burned. So if you increase your intake during the holidays, just increase your burning by working out more!

You'll be glad you did! I'd rather eat and enjoy than give it up or cut back :)

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Won my league match tonight in Racquetball! Beat the winner of last season, and the current leader of this season!

Been working hard, getting in shape for the winter. My goal is to drop another 5-10 lbs and prepare for the winter feasts of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years!!

By working hard, I get some great rewards!

Plot & Plan Your Workout Routine

It's important to track your progress psychologically! If you see your progress, it's more likely you'll stick with it. Don't expect quick results in terms of rapid weight loss, that's actually not good for you.

Expect and look for a gradual weight decrease, look for tightening of the muscles and loss of inches first. Muscle weighs more than fat, so don't expect to lose a lot early on as the body converts the fat to muscle.

DON'T overdue your workouts. Steady as she goes!! Mix up your routine to avoid muscle memory, you want to feel it, but not to the point of pain.

Don't quit, stick with it and you'll be happy you did. Remember Weight Loss = CALS IN < CAL OUT

So if you decease your caloric intake you will lose weight, or if you increase your workouts and keep intake the same you will lose weight. If you do both, you'll have better results!!

Eating healthier and smaller portions will go along way in improving your overall fitness. Don't forget to treat yourself now and then. Going drastic in either direction is a higher likelihood of you not sticking with either a better diet or workout routine.

Good luck and looking forward to hearing from you and your stories, results!!

Health & Fitness-Recovery

One VERY important aspect of Health & Fitness is to LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!!

I've had a very hard time of doing that over the years, as a result, I've caused probably more damage to my body than I should have. Of course when your young, who listens? Who follows doctors orders? Who warms up and stretches before exercising?? Okay I digress...

I woke up with a swollen right elbow yesterday, and instead of doing my normal routine I actually took care of myself. ICE, REST! Yes it's killing me, but if I want to recover quicker and get back to what I love doing with minimal to no pain, then it is a MUST!!

So please everyone, listen to what your body is telling you, make sure you get plenty of rest and healing time when you feel sore, are injured and nurse yourself back to HEALTH & FITNESS!

Health & Fitness - Make Time For It!

Time is all we really have, but many of us waste much of it worrying about not having enough of it!

We all need to make the time for ourselves and get some type of exercise in each day/week. The more you work your body, the longer your life will be and thus, the MORE TIME YOU'LL HAVE!!

So enjoy each day, time is precious, don't waste it worrying about things that aren't in your control. Take a breath, see what's around you, appreciate what you have and enjoy your LIFE. Take care of yourself and your body, it's the only one you have.

PEACE!

Weight Loss and Eating Right

Okay 2 of the hardest things to do, lose weight and eat right!

So what is the secret? Is there one? Everyone tells me there is...I'm really not so sure there is any one way/system or plan to help everyone. It's all about what works for YOU!

Knowledge is power! You've heard that before, and it applies here too. You need to KNOW your body, know what works and what doesn't with respect to food and exercise. Don't expect to do the same thing over and over and expect different results.

Read and learn about the things you've found that work for you. Or simply trial and error with foods and exercise regimens.

I've found out that varying the types of exercise and types of workouts seem to do best for me. Even within the actual workout, varying that helps too. It decreases the muscle memory factor and allows the body to get a better workout when it doesn't get "used" to a particular workout routine.

Foods: Everyone and I mean EVERYONE is different. You need to learn what your body type is, what you can and can't eat with respect to your make-up. I have a friend who has a slow Thyroid, she found out that there is a ton of "Healthy" things she shouldn't be eating or doing as it counter-acted the medication she was on to help her condition. Much of this information was not given to her by the doctors, but something she read and learned about on her own (again knowledge is POWER). We all need to be that proactive in learning about what is right for US.

Don't you hate it when some people can eat anything and still be thin and look great? Well it all has to do with their body chemistry. You need to know yours and what foods work and what don't. Sometimes it's just adjusting the caloric intake (smaller portions). Sometimes just a simple modification.

If you take anything away, take away this....Learn and read about the body and what body you may have and what may work for you!

Here is a web site talking about the TRUTH ABOUT ABS. It tells you about supposedly "healthy" foods you should avoid!! Enjoy and best wishes in your Feeling Good About YOU!!

Insurance and it's role with your Health & Fitness

As a former insurance professional, I know how important having the proper insurance coverage is to your overall peace of mind and Health and Fitness.

Whether it is automobile insurance, home insurance or health insurance. It is important that each of us has the proper coverage for the situations we face or are in. Sometimes you can find subsidized health care, or Government programs.

What ever you do, make sure you know what it is you are purchasing. Make sure the coverage you want is what you are paying. Do some research, don't rely on the BIG insurance company to properly sell you what you need. They may try to sell you what they want you to have.

I'm not saying every company works that way, most of them don't. Most of them are very reputable and do the right thing. That is why knowing who you are dealing with or knowing what you want for coverage is extremely important before you jump into buying insurance coverage, whether it is Auto, Home or Health!

Sleep and its effect on Health & Fitness

Who doesn't like sleep? I know I do! But many of us, with our busy schedules, fail to take the proper amount of time to rest and sleep. This has an adverse effect on our Health & Fitness! Our bodies need proper rest to rejuvenate as do our minds. Not getting proper rest can harm your Health and Fitness efforts.

Too many people rely on coffee or those energy drinks to substitute for rest and sleep. I'm not saying not to use them, they have their purpose, but they shouldn't be a substitute for proper sleep and rest. Remember our goal is improved Health & Fitness!!

Sometimes medication is needed to help with sleeping problems. Sometimes it requires a doctors help (sleep apnea). Whatever your reason, you need to make sure you get proper rest each day, whether all through the night or a nap during the day. This will greatly improve your Health and Fitness and will allow you to continue on your path to a better feeling YOU!

Here are some sites that can help you if you have problems with sleep:

Beautification-Impact on Health and Fitness

Okay so part of health & fitness is feeling good about yourself at any stage of your improvement. One way to do that is to take care of your outward appearance to yourself and others (most importantly yourself!).

Many of us don't realize it's US that drive our feelings about ourselves, it's called self-esteem! Too many have very low levels of it. By looking better in your own eyes, you can help your self-esteem and continue on the path of overall improved health & fitness!

As I mentioned before, clear skin, smooth legs, tighter abs, longer hair, smelling nice or whiter teeth are just a few of the ways we can improve our outward self and be on our way too feeling good about ourselves and with small improvements in these areas, can come better feelings of self-esteem which, in turn, will allow you to continue on the path of betterment through improved health & fitness with exercise and eating habits.

Again, it's not about dieting or eating perfectly, but improving what you do now so you can see little improvements in yourself and just feel "GOOD"!  (SELF-ESTEEM!)

Here are a few websites that I think could help you in your quest for self-improvement and move you towards your overall goal of improved HEALTH & FITNESS, BEAUTY & HIGHER SELF-ESTEEM!!

Exercise is Key to Improved Health and Fitness

No matter what we do to feel good about our Health and Fitness, exercise is a big key. We need to improve our health and fitness by doing some type of regular exercise routine. It doesn't have to be every day, but at least a few times each week.

I happened to go mountain biking yesterday and had quite a time. Got in some good exercise and feel great. Got in more than I expected as my partner riding with me feel off her bike and fractured her fibula! Now you say, hey that's not healthy, but it really is! She got exercise, and is getting a lot more exercise trying to move around using those crutches!! lol

But alas, it's all about feeling good about yourself and I do, and I know she does too! Sure, we'd like that injury to have not happened, but it's not going to stop us from exercising to improve our overall health and fitness, not to mention just to be able to enjoy the great outdoors and what this world has to offer us!

So keep up the exercising, no matter how little you do, walking, running, swimming, biking...they all count!

Here are some websites that will help with those aches and pains we get from working out!

Health and Fitness

If you are interested in Health and Fitness like many of us in America. Then I will try to help you get back to a point you will feel better about yourself. Take care of your body and get active to maintain a Healthy and Fit lifestyle.

You may already have an exercise or fitness program, but want to work on the beautification aspect of yourself. It is all about how we feel about ourselves and our bodies.

You don't have to be a body builder to feel good. You don't have to diet all the time, or go on and off diets, or even stop eating what you like. It's all about choices and making yourself happy with who you are.

Each of us will feel better about ourselves at a different point in our Health and Fitness. Some will feel great with just the smallest improvements in their Health and Fitness. Others will want to see dramatic results before they feel good about their Health and Fitness. Some require simply beautification such as clear skin, smooth legs, tighter abs, longer hair, smell nice or whiter teeth. There are also natural remedies out there that help us improve ourselves without the drastic need for surgery or the "quick fixes".

So check back here often and I'll post my thoughts Health and Fitness and will try to set up links that may inspire you to take action and improve yourself to a point that you ARE happy about your Health and Fitness at whatever level that would be.

It's all about making yourself happy not others!!
